WINTER BREAK!! Finally! I've been waiting for this for weeks, and i'm so happy it's here already:) Yes, i'm still here, sorry for not being around. School kept me busy all the time, last weeks were tough. I'm gonna check your LJs soon:) Promise!

Last weeks were great when it comes to movies. I was in cinema few times and saw some other cool movies too.
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly- Beautiful, beautiful movie! Aboutthe editor of French Elle, who got entirely parylised and could only blink with his one eye, and that's how he wrote the book, on which this movie was based. Becuase it's a true story, and i admire this man. I've already read the book, and i loved it, although i think the movie was better, because book was short and in movie we could see the whole picture of this situation. Pictures in film were exceptional, so i'm not surprised at all that operator( Polish guy, by the way) was nominated for them.:) He showed us the world from parylised man perspective.

La Mome I meant to watch it long time ago, and never had a chance. It was good, although not as good as i expected. But the actress, who was Edith Piath surely deserves all awards she got. She was amazing.

Next It was nice. I enjoyed it, interesting idea.:)

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry i loved it! It was very funny:) One of the best comedies i've seen in a long time. There are not that many cool comedies anymore.

XXY Film about looking yours identity. Girl or a boy? Strong movie, really good. Worth watching.

The Wind That Shakes The Barley i was with my class in cinema on this one. It told the story about Irish, young people fighting for independence in 1920. ALso very interesting. And it kinda reminded Polish/Russian history.

We Own The Night I got two free tickets from magazine "Kino" for this one. I didn't expect anything cool, becuase i haven't hears about it before, and it seemed like some usual action movie, but it was awesome!! I spent great time watching it:) And Joaquin Phoenix is phenomenal actor:)

Bang Bang, You're Dead I saw it on cinema classes. It was about violence in school and it was SO good. very moving. And there was shown a play in this movie, which was just brilliant. Everyone should see it:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=N1cLbS3TeJM
After seeing the movie, we discussed about this subject and it was really nice:) I met some new people, which was cool too.

Disturbia It was pretty much so-so. Nothing special, and it started to be a thriller just about 30 minutes till the end.

Good Bye, Lenin! Really nice, veyr interesting movie:) i wanted to see it becuase i just FLOVE its soundtrack. It's absolutely gorgous.

Hairspray Hate to disappoint you, but it didn't got me. Kinda boring, to be honest. Nothing compared to Across The Universe, although maybe i shouldn't comapre them, becuase they're both different kinds of musicals. It was nice, but that's it.

---
About tv shows. I watched season 1 of Dexter and it's fantastic! Brilliant show. Showtime always has the best tv shows:) I'm watching seaosn 2 right now, and can't wait to read the books too!
I watched half of the 1st season of How I Met Your Mother, and this show is fun:) I will come back to it, when i finish 2nd season of Dexter:)
I'm watching season 5 of Friends too, becuase i missed it, and my friends has all seasons on DVD:D

Mine is starting just now, but maybe it would be better if it started two weeks ago like yours, becuase here we're so damn tired:/

Heee, hope you wouldn't be disappointed:)

Awww Bang, Bang, You're Dead *le sigh* Such an amazing movie. Brilliant Ben Foster (as always). I gotta admit I first watched it because of Randy but it's an excellent movie. Too bad so underrated.

Watch the original of Hairspray. The remake is as lame as it goes but the true John Waters won't disappoint you ;)

The Wind... made me totally cry the first time I've seen it *blushes*

And Dexter is freaking brilliant (what do you expect? it's cable!). Love Micheal C. Hall in it. And awww my Julie Benz is so adorable <3
Beti: QaF- B/J show me you missed me[info]beti90 on February 9th, 2008 10:35 pm (UTC)
I haven't seen ben Foster in any other movie, no one that i recall, but he was brilliant, you're absolutely right, and he looks kind alike Eminem:P
And i forgot to write about Randy! Watching this movie was very spontanious, becuase we just came for classes and Ania brought some movies we could watch. She wanted us to watch Bang bang the most, becuase it didn't come up in Poland on DVD, wasn't in cinemas, only ones it aired on tv and she recorded it and wanted to show us:) The point is, i didn't know Randy was in there and i got all excited when i saw him! I expected Gale to walk in any second:P
And the movies is underrated? Ania told us that's a hit in America and Europe. But she told us, there's new movie based on the same story. Film from Estonia, from this year called "Klasa", and she said it's genius. have to watch it too:)

I didn't even know that it was remake!lol Will watch the oryginal, when i have a chance:)

oh, i cried too....

Julie Benz is who in the show?
Dexter is freaking fantastic! Cable won't ever disappoint me;)

Just drop to say that Julie Benz is so much LOVE!!
d.[info]dresden_doll_01 on February 9th, 2008 10:43 pm (UTC)
Totally! She's my girl crush #1 lately lol I'm even considering watching Rambo because of her lmao

I wish she would still be doing AtS conventions since I missed her the last time she did (and that was such a frikking awesome convention coz it had her and VK doing guest talk together and I love their mommy/son dynamic on show lol).
d.: Brian/Justin 4x01[info]dresden_doll_01 on February 9th, 2008 10:49 pm (UTC)
The play that originated this is/was a huge success in the US after Columbine but the movie itself isn't. It was a TV movie produced by Showtime sometime during early 2000s. Which is why it has Randy in. He's not doing films anymore at all :( I mean I love how successful he is on stage but damn, I can't go to NY to see him... And Ben Foster did a whole bunch of better and shittier movies but he was constantly good. I like him much better than his younger bro Jon (who dates Sophia Bush ;))

Hairspray the original is freaking brilliant. I was madly in love with it when I was a kid. And man talk about cast *eek* I still can't get over Vitamin C and Blondie in.

She plays Rita =) I adore this woman. Even if Alyson Hanigan said some stuff about her during their Buffyverse years... I kinda have trouble believing whatever Aly says though.

How I Met Your Mother BTW - it's such an uneven show. There are some excellent episodes but some are just lame and unfunny. But I love Barney. He pwns this show.

Beti: ATU- Young love[info]beti90 on February 9th, 2008 10:54 pm (UTC)
Showtime again;)
he's not doing films anymore? Taht sucks! he chose just playing in theatre? That's real art, but that's so bad for us, when we can't see his plays:/
hee i didn't know they were brothers:D

Rita! Yes, she's so adorable! Gotta love her:)
What did Aly say about her?

i haven't seen that many eppies, but i liked every one i saw. Some were GRAET, some just nice, but i enjoyed all of them:) And Barney-so much love:D But i like everyone.
d.: AtS D/A(us)[info]dresden_doll_01 on February 9th, 2008 11:03 pm (UTC)
Well duh! Anything good these days on telly must be coming from cable ;)

By choice. He never wanted to do movies, he was always more interested in stage and he has stage training. He's currently preparing 2 plays, including Waiting for Godot. He's absolutely brilliant on stage and man... he's done some true classics (Amadeus, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Equus...) but yeah it's too bad for his international fans :(

Aly just said that Julie was mean to her or something like that. But honestly I have trouble believing. First of all Julie was only in a few episodes of S1 of BtVS and when she was on AtS, it was during S2-3, whereas Aly made her guest appearance there during S4 so it's not like they actually had a chance to spend time together. I have to say I love Willow but Aly can be a true gossiper and that just... meh... kinda unprofessional tbh. I mean it's because of her that the whole fandom started to hate SMG.

Yay, I'm happy you're on your break now. Enjoy it and make the most of it :) Hope you don't have to spend too much of it studying.

Wow, you have seen so many films lately! I think I've watched a lot so far this year but it's nothing compared to you! Are you doing the 100 films in a year meme? I'm sure you'd make it if you keep this up. LOL I've actually only seen the last two films you mentioned. I loved Goodbye Lenin, it's such a good story. I've only seen Hairspray once, it's not a film I'd become obsessed with but I have listened to the soundtrack to the point where I know it all by heart, I love it so much.
Beti: ATU- All you need is love[info]beti90 on February 10th, 2008 10:36 am (UTC)
No, i won't be studying:) Although i should:P But i ahev to rest now:D

I'm doing the meme, but i'm not saying i have to watch 100 movies. I'm just curious how many i will see. The more the better:D But i would like to read 50 books. That would be so great.

Goo Bye lenin greatness is in content, not in form. Story is really unusual:)

I heard the songs only once, in a movie, and i liked only a few, but maybe i would liek more if i listened to teh soundtrack:)

Bets! I've been waiting for ages for you to update! I wanted to tell you something. Remember how I told you that I wrote a review of The Bronze Horseman for my English classes? You asked me what I got but I didn't know at the time yet. I do now and the answer is 5, but what was really cool is that my teacher asked me if I read the second and third part and if I liked it and it turned out she loves the series, too (Which means she likes me more now, I guess lol) and she said to the whole class that if anyone wants a good read, they should go talk to me. Ha! It was all kinda funny ;)

Anyway, yay winter break! Mine ended a week ago and it feels like it never really happened, we're back all the way ;o But you enjoy yours! Any plans?

I've seen only one of these movies, La Mome. I didn't enjoy it that much, either.

HEEEE that's so awesome!

No własnie. Wcale nie było jakies super, jedynie ta kreacja Edith Piath i muzyka były super. Film mnie w sumie nudził./

Ahh i missed you Nes!
[info]nesxx on February 10th, 2008 01:04 pm (UTC)

Missed you too! Jedziemy gdzieś razem w te wakacje, prawda? ;)
Beti: OTH- Jamie in costiume[info]beti90 on February 11th, 2008 07:51 am (UTC)

JASNE!! Masz już pomysł, gdzie?:) Może nad morze?:D
Nes: [kbell][info]nesxx on February 11th, 2008 04:33 pm (UTC)

First of all, your icon rulez :D

From all movies you mentioned, I'd like to see Chuck&Larry, Disturbia, Hairspray and XXY. I've seen Bang Bang You're Dead once on a tv and it's really cool :) Same goes for Good Bye, Lenin! - it's such a great film and it's German what makes this movie even greater for me.
Beti: FNL- Tim i'm a virgin duh[info]beti90 on February 11th, 2008 07:56 am (UTC)
heee I KNOW! This scene just cracked me up, like whole Casey/Chuck greatness, but this one was special;)

Do you like German movies or not, and that's why Goodby lenin is pecial?:P I hate German language, but film was really awesome. Such an unusual story! I want to see badly another German movie- "Zycie na podsłuchu". Heard it's amazing.
.fantastic: [dw] jive[info]lizzy_maxia on February 11th, 2008 10:26 am (UTC)
That scene was for me like Luke/Jess all over again :D I don't know why it made me think of Gilmore Girls, but it did.

I like German movies, I haven't seen many of them (btw. polecam "Księżniczkę i Wojownika"), but I used to love this language (and this country) when I still was learning it. Then I started Uni and forgot almost everything, that's so scary :O

Beti: FNL- Tami/Tyra after the game[info]beti90 on February 11th, 2008 05:07 pm (UTC)
I've never watched Gilmore Girls:(

Ok, thank, i'm gonna check this one out, when i get a chance.

Well, i don't like the sound of it, but also maybe becuase i don't like my teachers. I had two, and i haven't liked neither of them:/

glad you have winter break, i'll go to school until easter break :( sigh. anyway, i saw goodbye lenin a lot of years ago and i loved it :D and hairspray, i watched some scenes since my sister has the dvd and she was watching it last weekend, but it really didn't get me, i saw like 3-4 scenes and then went away and preferred to do something on the computer, than listening to that crap musical :| i didn't really like the songs, they were all similiar, and it's weird since i love musicals.. and lol i guess is normal that it hasn't anything to do with across the universe, that movie is .. unique ♥
Beti: ATU- All you need is love[info]beti90 on February 11th, 2008 08:01 am (UTC)
That sucks! But did you have winter break earlier, or you don't have it at all?

For me the songs were all the same too. Maybe i should listen them more cloely, again on soundtrack, but i don't feel like it;) Across the universe is PURE GENIUS. I have to won this movie, becuase i have to stop watching all scenes on youtube:P There are so many exceptional scenes in this film and i love how always song is right for the story. In hairspray(duh!) you didn't even have to watch the movie, becuase lyrucs meant nothing, and in ATU they were importnat for the story. Do you ahev your fav scenes? I love so many, but the first scen on the beach, "I've just seen her face", "I want you" and "Strawberries fields" are probably my favourites.
Marta[info]elisewin16 on February 11th, 2008 01:33 pm (UTC)
our winter break is christmas break, so yeah we had it earlier :P.
anyway, i don't know which is my fav scene.. mmm.. i've just seen a face for sure ♥ is one of the best, strawberry fields forever, hey jude.. and i think i want you is an amazing idea :) but omg if i start talk about it i can talk about it forever lol
